Green light given for 6-flat development near Angus chippy

Plans for a 6-flat short-term let block beside an Angus chippy have been given the green light by councillors.
The bid went before elected members at a development standards committee on Tuesday.
Under the plans, the holiday homes will be erected beside the Bell Rock restaurant in Arbroath.
These will contain two two-bedroom and four one-bedroom flats, and a separate parking area with nine spaces will also be created.
Objections 
However, 5 letters of representation were received from 5 local households, all objecting to the proposals.
Concerns raised included increased traffic and parking issues, obstructed views and impacts on amenity through overshadowing and loss of light.
Despite this, the application was recommended for conditional approval by planning officials and was met with unanimous approval from councillors.
Arbroath councillor Serena Cowdy said: “As an Arbroath local member, I am very aware of the lack of accommodation in our town.
“I do think we have the potential for so much more tourism and part of that is around the lack of good quality accommodation.”
Councillor Craig Fotheringham added: “I fully support this application and I think it is excellent for the area of Arbroath.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
